How it works
How it works
1. Paste the listing
Copy the text of the advertisement (title, description, price, kilometres and anything else the seller wrote) or upload screenshots of the ad and your chat with the seller. This works for Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree, Carsales and chat apps. You can add up to three listings to compare them. We never visit links or log in to marketplaces; screenshots are read, shown back to you to check, and then discarded.
2. Optionally add seller messages
Many of the most useful warning signs show up in conversations, such as a deposit request, a story about being away, or reluctance to share the VIN. Paste the messages if you have them.
3. Check what we remove
Before anything is sent, your browser removes common personal details: email addresses, Australian phone numbers, card-like numbers, labelled bank details and verification codes, tracking parts of links, and VINs. You see the result and can correct it. Automated removal is imperfect, so please check it yourself.
4. Get your report
The text is analysed by an AI model under strict rules. Your report includes:
- a short summary and one of three plain categories (never a “scam score”);
- the facts the listing states, each marked “stated in listing”, not verified;
- findings, each with the exact wording it is based on, why it matters, a practical next step and how confident the review is;
- questions to send the seller, and a before-you-pay checklist;
- things to ask your inspector about this make and model (general guidance, not a diagnosis);
- a live search of advertised asking prices for similar cars, with links to each source. These are advertised prices, not a valuation;
- the official registration check for the car's state, plus the national recall search;
- links to the official checks you can do yourself.
The free preview shows the summary, stated facts and the first findings. The full report is a one-off payment.
What we are not
ListingGuard AU is not connected to PPSR, NEVDIS, police, insurance, state registration, finance, write-off, stolen-vehicle or valuation databases. We do not inspect cars, value them or give legal advice.
